Moving to Static Delivery

And to think I almost migrated to Drupal.

This month marks my eleventh year blogging at Thudfactor. Four more years and it will have outlived Geocities – I think that's a worthy goal. Over those eleven years I've used many different content management systems, but I think this is the first time I've ever gone completely static. That's right – there's no CMS behind this thing any more.

That means a loss of comments. I still have the comments archived. But with just a handful of exceptions, most comments in the last couple of years were either spam or drive-bys. Now people prefer to talk on Twitter or Facebook about articles instead of on the page itself, anyway.

GMU says comments affect how you think about what you read. It also affects how you write – how many articles have you read that start with a paragraph of preamble, arguing with commenters who haven't even posted yet? So no comments, at least for now.

If you want to read more about it, I have a post on my technical blog.
