Guess Ten, Jury of My Peers edition
January 27, 2006
On the subject of abortion, Kaye Grogan says:
bq. The gruesome statistics of how many innocent babies have been slaughtered, has now reached 47 million from 1973-2005. More lives lost than all wars combined.
Of course, World War II killed about fifty-five million people. “There’s more at Sadly, No!”:http://www.sadlyno.com/archives/002300.html.
But here at Thudfactor, there’s no such thing as an abortive attempt[1] at the weekly Guess Ten. Here are ten lyrics: you tell me the song and the artist.
# I want you to trip like me; I want you to have fun.
# I understand how you must feel. I can’t deny they’ve got appeal.
# Sonic Youth, “Teenage Riot” [ KWK ] -He acts the hero, we paint a zero on his hand.-
# Is there laughter on the line, are you sure you’re there alone?
# And in that circle was a maze, a terrible spiral to be lost in.
# And I feel, so much depends on the weather. So is it raining in your bedroom?
# Roxette, “The Look” [ "Fred":http://www.unreality.net/weblog/fishes.html ] -What in the world can make a brown eyed girl turn blue?-
# It was a bad plan, but I had to get to town.
# Paul Simon, “Still Crazy after All These Years” [ "Fred":http://www.unreality.net/weblog/fishes.html ] -I fear I’ll do some damage one fine day.-
# Wish somebody would tell me I’m fine.
fn1. Ooo! Bad taste.

#7 is “The Look” by Roxette
#9 is “Still Crazy After All These Years” by Paul Simon
And #10 is very familiar, but I don’t know.

I think #4 is from Rockwell, “Somebody’s Watching Me”. But I’m too lazy to check…
And yet, I’ve committed to memory the factoid that Rockwell was, allegedly, a distant cousin of Michael Jackson’s. That could be just a rumor, though.

Hm. I’m afraid not. #4 is still up for grabs.

Well, #3 is from what is likely one of the greatest songs ever “Teen Age Riot” by the gods that form Sonic Youth.
