#4 is “She Came in Through the Bathroom Window” by the Beatles (or maybe Joe Cocker)

#6 is Funkadelic (Everybody is Going to Make it)! Nice!

Fred, you were right the first time. Joe covered it.

Jess, Fred: you’re right. Laundro: Close enough for jazz (considering how long the name is).

Misinformation followed us like a plague. -Peace Like a River - Paul Simon

    10. And I’m most obliged to you for making it clear that I’m not here. Jugband Blues - Pink Floyd

#5 would be In My Time Of Dying. I’m partial to Rev. Gary Davis myself, but you’re probably looking for Led Zeppelin.

Once in a blue moon, John throws me a bone with these song lyrics cause he knows that all I remember are the dozen or so albums we listened to in college.

In any case, I am very saddened that I didnt get hear sooner to be the first one with the Pink Floyd reference. Out of any band, that is probably the closest piece of music that I consider myself an expert in. Jugband Blues was the only song written and performed by Syd on the album Saucerful of Secrets. And what a prophetic song. Awesome stuff.

In any case, let’s take the lyric:

But you came to my aid, instead.

this one I believe is a Tori Amos lyric… but honestly, I cant remember what song or album… After Boys For Pele, all of her future stuff (while musically brilliant at times) became too lyrically obscure for my tastes. I was working way too hard to enjoy it.

    And finally, the lyric:
Two by two they enter the jungle, and soon they number more.

Ahhh… They Might Be Giants… Joe introduced me to this band back in high school. Of course he showed me all the non mainstream songs and albums… so it was only later in college that I really fully heard all of Flood… which is the album most people recall when they think of a TMBG album. And it was on this album, on a song I believe called “Women and Men” that this lyric is in.

Woohooo… trip down memory lane… btw, I haven’t heard from Joe in a long time… John, have you?

Dude, I haven’t heard from Joe in ages. Last I heard he’d become a quasi-hermit in the mountains of California. Either that or he’d transformed into a were-egret and was feeding on toy dogs Los Angeles.

You’re right about the TMBG; the Tori Amos lyric is _Boys for Pele_ era — I haven’t had much patience for anything past that. Truth be told, I didn’t have much patience for _BfP_.

I’m surprised you don’t know number 3. Think 80’s. When reading the lyric, put a significant pose between “in a” and “spotlight” and it’ll probably ring the bell more loudly.
