Guess Ten, Oldies Edition (12-23-05)

Date December 23, 2005

One of the songs that came up as I was putting today’s quiz together was Madonna’s “Frozen” from _Ray of Light_. It’s hard to pick a lyric for people to guess when every line comes from six dozen other songs. “Give yourself to me, you hold the key”? Gag.

I’m not entirely sure, but I don’t think there’s a song in this list younger than ten years old.

I give you the lyric, you give me the title and artist.

# “Refugee”, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers [ "(: Tom :)":http://www.funnyfarmonline.org/ ] -We got something. We both know it. We don’t talk much about it.-
# “Drive”, REM [ "Fred":http://www.unreality.net/weblog/fishes.html ] -Smack, crack. shack-a-lack. Tie another one to your back.-

And I’m pretty sure the others will come to me.

Like #5: “Bad Company” by Bad Company.

Okay, I’m not sure I know #1 or #2, but they seem kinda familiar, too.

The first one is Pink Floyd, but I can’t remember the song title. The 2nd one is Steely Dan “You go back, Jack, do it again…” What the hell was the real name of that song?

Fred’s got the right idea, but I think the actual title of number 10 would be “Baby Got Back.”

Geez, Fred, can we let someone else play? ;-)

Glen corrected me (in person) about the Mix-A-Lot lyric. It’s “Honda,” not “behinder.” I heard “behinder” of course because I’ve been watching a lot of MST3K.

Sol, you’re absolutely right about the track, but don’t feel too bad—that one’s a deep track.

I can’t believe I got the title of “Baby Got Back” wrong. I will now go hang my head in shame.
