Observations on Spam and Bumperstickers.

Date December 27, 2004

You know those new VW Bugs that look like the plastic eggs vending machine toys come in? There was one driving down the middle lane of the Interstate yesterday, going about 45. In his rear window he had a STOP sign on a bobbly wire that read — when you tailgated to get close enough to it — “This car comes to a complete STOP at all stop signs!”. This while being an obstruction on the Interstate. He’s not being snotty, he’s just letting us know which traffic law he obeys.

I passed him and he changed lanes without signaling. I imagine he probably does the rhumba at all RR-Xings, too.

PS: Please don’t use bumperstickers that require tailgating to read. Especially if they are supposed to be traffic safety bumperstickers.

One email message informed me that “your girl deserves an 8 inch man.” I asked my girl what she would do with an 8 inch man and she said she would start a Tom Thumb sideshow at the circus. Or use him to clean out behind the paperbacks in our bookshelf.

Talk about your mixed signals: I keep getting advertisments for C’ial1s and V1a-gkra, but also ads offering me “everyday soft - low prices.”

Here’s an oddly equivocal church marquee for the Christmas season:

Church with sign out front that says

I don’t know. What are you offering instead?

Mortgage spam: I got one telling me sorry, I had not been approved for a 3.00 rate but I had been approved for a 4.0 rate. This half-assed attempt at realism was hopelessly ruined by erratic spacing within words, etc.

Speaking of mortgage spam, I’m getting it in my _USPS_ mailbox from a legitimate bank with whom I have a legitimate account. They say I am pre-approved for a home-equity loan. *Cheer*. But wait, I thought you had to own a home first.

I wonder what the cats would think of the 8 inch man. Would they try to play with him, or kill him?
