The next President speaks to Bearcats

Date June 4, 2008

The Sign by Gary Scott

Barack Obama will be kicking off the general election campaign tomorrow at my old high school in Bristol Virginia. Unfortunately I can’t get away to see him, so I’ll have to rely on reports from Dad and Glen. But I think it’s amazing that he’s going to show up at this smallish high school deep in Appalachia — one of the most Obama-hostile regions of the country.

According to Faux News he’s also heading into Prince William County, Virginia. PWC is the most conservative of the Northern Virginia counties and frequently goes Republican in state and national elections. Apparently, he plans to campaign in the red. Those of us liberals who live in the red deeply appreciate the attention.

Bummer that you can’t make it. I’m hoping that he swings back this way some time soon.

Frankly, I’d rather have the bacon.
