Spam: Let me tell you what’s not effective
2004 January 17
Here’s another Spam concept that I find pretty funny. Some software — or spammer — or someone has decided it would be a good way to foil some filters by using random words in the *name* field. So I get email from people like “Anglophiles G. God,” “Seismology P. Cerise” [Cerise == "cherry red"], and “Doorbell L. Calories.”
Some of this does get through my filter, yes. But not my ocular filter. I don’t even have to _read the subject line_ to know these are spam.
