Guess Ten, foggy foggy dew edition

Today is the kind of weather that puts the “bleak” in “Bleaksburg.” So here’s ten lyrics: you tell me the artist and the song.

Last week’s two unanswered lyrics were MC Chris’s “Illy Oy” and Molly Hatchet’s “Flirtin’ With Disaster.”

  1. Paul Simon, “Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes” [ Kim ] And then she slipped into my pocket with my car keys.
  2. Pharcyde, “Ya Mama” [ Laundro ] Your mother’s got an afro with a chin strap.
  3. Beastie Boys, “Shake Your Rump” [ Jess ] And when the mic is in my mouth I turn it out y’all
  4. Chicago, “Saturday in the Park” [ Scott ] A bronze man still can tell stories his own way
  5. Turn everything red and the dream is complete
  6. Dead Milkmen, “I Tripped Over the Ottoman” [ GLS] Morey Amsterdam can make a sane man crazy
  7. Warren Zevon, “Excitable Boy” [ Kim ] And he dug up her grave and built a cage with her bones
  8. INXS, “Meditate” [ Scott ] A one world state as human freight
  9. John Mellencamp, “Cherry Bomb” [ Tiffany ] Seventeen has turned thirty-five. I’m surprised that were still living.
  10. Lovin’ Spoonful, “Jug Band Music” [ Karan ] We gave him little water, a little bit of wine. He opened up his eyes but they didn’t seem to shine.

    6. I tripped over the ottoman, one too many times. Dead Milkmen. Can’t remember the song title, but it’s from Metaphysical Graffiti.

Wow, not bad! I thought GLS might get #6 since he loaned me that album fifteen years ago or so. I wasn’t sure if anyone would get #2!

So we’re left with #5, which is 80s goth, and #10 is a sixties group doing a song about an even folkier style of music.

Nail those two and we can get happy!
