Bush: Coward
JMM is right as usual. Bush is a coward. I never really thought of it in those terms before, but it makes his behavior more understandable. Marshall gives two examples: how the President led us into war and how the President continues to lead us afterwards. Clicky the linky for that argument. I have one more important example, let me know if you have more. You can start “Bush is a coward because…”
Bush is a coward because he’s afraid to face the American public. We’re told that the stringent screening measures are for security, but security around his events are excessive and seem to be targeted at making sure no one can heckle the President or even ask an unscripted question at the appropriately designated time. Yesterday I heard Tim Walz on the Al Franken Show talking about being barred from a campaign event because a student he was with had a John Kerry sticker on his wallet. Does the Secret Service really believe that this kid is going to assasinate the president? No. They are afraid he will be pert.
Anyone who is going to be the so-called “leader of the free world” should not be afraid of teenagers being pert. It’s pure cowardice to only allow those who agree with you near you. It’s cowardice not to face the protesters, to move them out of eye- and ear-shot. Monarchs and despots do not have to face those they rule. But for the President of the United States it’s the first item on the job description.
