Happy day for our justice system.
It was…until I read where Himmler, um, I mean Chertoff will probably get the job.
Yeah, what we really need is a Congress that will stand up to the administration. I’m extremely happy that Gonzales is out, but he was in many ways just a symptom of the larger problem that is the administration.
I mean, it was a happy happy day when Rumsfeld resigned, but it’s not like it got us out of Iraq.
Jeez, folks, take your joy where you can find it. Do you think Gonzales would have resigned if the Democrats had not been holding hearings? Personally, I think this is evidence that they’re standing up (just not as quickly and as often as we’d like).
Also, Solonor, I don’t think we can allow ourselves to be blackmailed into passivity by Bush’s penchant for following up bad people with worse people.
Oh, it’s a joyous moment, don’t get me wrong. I don’t buy the “lesser of two evils, so stick with the evil that you’ve got” mentality. Gonzales deserves to be gone, and I’m very glad he is. I just worry that Congress will use this as an excuse to say, okay, case closed, instead of holding more hearings and pushing back more.
I’m not trying to be a spoilsport.
Ditto. I just despise Chertoff even more than Gonzalez (if that’s possible).
