Rudy, Rudy

Date November 29, 2007

It’s been apparent for some time that sex scandals were only important Democrats were involved. Most of the so-called Conservative Christian Republicans have been content to look the other way despite hooker scandal after hooker scandal. But maybe Giuliani’s misappropriation of taxpayer funds to subsidize his adultery will actually grab people’s attention. It’s not just that Giuliani was having an adulterous affair — that I could care less about. Nor is it just that he was using tax money to do it, which is inexcusable on its own. But he’s trying to run as the Conservative Values candidate. I’ve heard Giuliani described as a smart George W. Bush — that is, an authoritarian royalist who wouldn’t reliably shoot himself in the foot when aiming for the Constitution — but now I have my doubts.

I’ve kind of lost faith in the American public. Seems to me that for the most part they’re fundamentalist (heavy on the mentalist) hillbillies. Guess it’s up to this coming election to prove me wrong, but I’m not holding my breath.

Yeah, I know that’s the stereotype. But it’s not well-supported by any actual surveys or even the election statistics.

And hillbillies can be very smart, very nice people.
