On keeping your domain names registered.

I think the “social bookmarking” service Magnolia is great; a definate improvement over del.icio.us. But today they demonstrate why letting other companies manage your data in a place you can’t access is such a bad idea.

They let their domain name expire. Now I can’t get to my bookmarks and I can’t tell you about the nifty bookmark feature I’ve been running in the right side of my weblog. No, don’t bother to leave the RSS feed and look, _it ain’t there_. Because they _let their freekin’ domain name expire_.

I can’t believe it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a couple of domain names of my own to renew.
