Ladies and gentlemen, the Era of Small Government is over[1]. In the ongoing quest to rename everything in the Washington DC area after Ronald Reagan there’s a “new proposal”:http://www.wtopnews.com/index.php?nid=25&sid=550621. Some Congressman from Texas wants to rename 16th Street Northwest[2] “Ronald Reagan Boulevard.” Of course, Washington DC taxpayers would have to pay for the change to the tune of [Dr. Evil Voice] $1 Million Dollars!
This comes after Bill Frist proposed renaming the Pentagon “the Ronald Reagan Defense Building,” the successful renaming of the Washington National Airport the “Reagan Washington National Airport” (at not-insignificant Metro-rider expense), and the construction of the $738 _billion_, mostly empty, _Federally constructed_ “Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center”:http://www.itcdc.com/index.php near Washington DC’s Union Station.
In the spirit of Naming All Things Reagan, I think I will take “this TPM commenter’s suggestion to heart”:http://www.tpmcafe.com/comments/2005/8/5/10565/77022/6?mode=alone;showrate=1#6. On my way home I will stop at an office supply store for a labeling machine. Soon all things will become a memorial to Ronald Reagan.
* Ronald Reagan Washington Monument
* Ronald Reagan Memorial Cat Box
* Reagan International Garbage Chute
* Reagan Presidential Urinal Cake
You can play along, even if you don’t live in Washington DC (”now known as”:http://www.tpmcafe.com/comments/2005/8/5/10565/77022/3?mode=alone;showrate=1#3 “Reagangrad”).
