If human rights violations and “weapons of mass destruction” were the issues that emphasized for the purpose of gaining support and not the true, over-arching reason, what was the real reason we went to war in Iraq? Oil?
I don’t think so.
I think the real reason is Saddam wouldn’t play ball with us. He belonged to a rival gang. But this thug is on our side (for now). So while he’s drowning his citizens in interogation rooms, we’ll pat him on his head (with taxpayer money) and tell him what a good boy he is for letting a new newspaper print.
This kind of stuff really makes me ill.
