In the “John is a Real Geek” category, Thudfactor now features a searchable archive of One Minute Speeches by (soon to be former) Representative James Traficant, Democrat of Ohio.
What are the One Minute Speeches? Well, Representative Traficant would occasionally stand up and deliver these rants on the floor of the House. Sometimes the rants were exhortations in general to strengthen America’s steel industry. Others, like this one about soccer violence, were more weblog-like rants with no clear political motivation — just observations, apropos nothing.
Although in a lot of ways it’s clear that Traficant was no Democrat, sometimes he said something worth agreeing with.
