What will I call the blog then?

Why is it called “thudfactor” anyway? Well, the “thud factor” of something is how loud a noise your thesis/assignment/book makes when you drop it from, oh, five feet above the floor.

I chose the name because of the amount of content I had or expected to have. Besides this blog — which is fairly content heavy itself — there’s also the movie reviews, photos and artwork, even more photos, an esoteric calculator of sorts, and of course the Polygeek Quiz.

The other reason is that I am, myself, rather large. I didn’t even realize how large I was until I started a new diet three weeks ago and discovered I weighed in at just a hair over three hundred pounds. Now there’s an eye-opener for you.

Thanks in large part to running commentary from Scott and Maria, I joined weight watchers three weeks ago. Because I’ve added exercise into the plan, I’m down thirteen pounds already. And while I was never the kind of person who could eat three roast chickens and four apple pies in one sitting, I’m finding that much smaller portions are satisfying now. This weekend I had an italian sausage and fries (yes, I can *do* that on this diet), and didn’t really get hungry again the rest of the day. Isn’t that neat?

The drawback, of course, is when I hit my target weight I won’t so much be “Thudfactor” any more.

If I average weight loss of 2 pounds a week from here on out — which is supposed to be the “safe” weight loss, I understand — I’ll hit my target weight sometime in mid-October 2004. About the time my domain name expires. What should I do then?
