A well-studied shave
December 17, 2007
I use a “MACH3″ razor to shave, and this morning I had to open a new package of blades. On the back was a advertisement for another Gillette blade variant, the “Fusion,” featuring a “five blade shaving surface,” a “flexible comfort guard,” and a rear-facing, top-mounted blade called a “precision trimmer.” Why should we use this joke turned reality? I quote Gillette’s entire argument below:
Why is Fusion better than MACH3? 8 years of shaving innovation.
Eight years of R&D and all they have to show for it is “guys, we worked really hard!” Smell the quality.

If people ask me why I have a beard, I’m going to tell them it’s because of razors like this.

Thud, you’re not alone. A sub-culture of shaving aficionados is going back to the single-blade razor and traditional shaving cream. Check out shavemyface.com and badgerandblade.com (and my youtube channel).

They had to do something to justify raising that price tag.
I’m sure all those fighter pilots who actually do shave at MACH 3 are grateful. Three blades could mean death if you’ve got a bogey on your six.
