How uncouth!
One of the things about this administration that really has me rolling with laughter is how _easily insulted_ and _thin skinned_ the new Republican Politically Correct Squad is. They are always squeeking about some outrage or other. People talking mean about the president. People using intemperate language. And so forth.
Now, see, I was alive and aware during the Clinton years, so I remember a lot of the vitriol. I remember in 1994 when Jesse Helms said Bill Clinton “better have a bodyguard” if he came to visit North Carolina. I remember the rumors about illegal cocaine deals, and I remember people calling Bill by the (to my mind overly-explicit) _ _sobrequet_ “Slick Willie.”
But booing the President during the State of the Union? Surely that is beyond the pale. Unless the other party has control, of course. I mean, “Republicans booed”:http://atrios.blogspot.com/2005_01_30_atrios_archive.html#110745979932774435 — and walked out on — Clinton many times.
It’s a damn shame Bush’s campaign staff wasn’t around to screen the anti-Bush Senators and Congressmen from the audience first. If they had done that, maybe no one would have got their feelings hurt.
