NFL has no Vick?

Remember when I mentioned that VT Football star turned embarrassment Michael Vick was indicted for illegal dog-fighting and animal cruelty? Mikey G reports in the comments that Vick has been ordered not to report to training camp.

Now, had Vick been a poor-performing dog at his kennel, perhaps he would have been electrocuted or hung or slammed against the ground until he were dead. As it is, it sounds like he gets a paid vacation instead. NFL.com reports:

Vick will not forfeit his preseason pay during his excused absence from training camp.

Somehow, that still doesn’t sound like justice. Mikey G reports a humane society petition here and a PETA petition here.

And while I’m generally of the opinion that PETA involvement trivializes any issue, I think it’d be difficult for even PETA to turn this into a cartoon. Commissioner Roger Goodell’s action isn’t nearly enough; we look forward to more appropriate justice from the NFL. And, later, the courts.
