Midsummer

2006 June 23

!http://static.flickr.com/27/50689507_7d0920dd06_m.jpg! I neglected this week to wish folks a happy Summer Solstice. This is always something of a bittersweet day for me, since — as the Solstice — it also marks the beginning of the long, slow descent into darkness.

While some pagans celebrate this day by dancing naked in ancient stone circles, Elf and I chose to mark it my going to our new favorite Mexican restaraunt, where we are now recognized as regulars. (For those of you in the Arlington/Washington DC area, the _Cantina Mexicana_ on 23rd street is well worth a visit.) In a strange and somehow appropriate reversal for the season, Elf had the dark beer, and I had the light one.

Jason has more about the holiday at the “Wild Hunt Weblog”:http://www.wildhunt.org/2006/06/happy-summer-solstice.html.
