The Eagle flies on Friday
!http://static.flickr.com/54/141202585_a11fdd827a_m.jpg! And I thought it was Mondays that were supposed to be stormy. We seem to be on the tail end of a significant thunderstorm here in Northern Virginia — quite possibly the loudest _I’ve_ ever heard. For about ten minutes, it was almost like one continuous thunderclap, and the lightning very rapid. We’re talking movie-style storm. And this is just a lower-case “s” _storm_. I’d hate to see what an actual proper-named hurricane is like.
In the “Science Friday discussion with Tom Bethell”:http://www.thudfactor.com/wordpress/2006/06/22/consensus-he-sneered/, Ira asks what evidence would satisfy Tom that humans are responsible for global warming. Tom says it would have to go on for much, much longer. Which sounds to me like he’s not going to admit we’re in the soup-pot until the peas and carrots make an appearance.
This is what I think about when awakened by extraordinarily loud and flashy thunderstorms.
