When living off the grid
If you’re going to live off the grid, it’s vitally important that “you don’t shoot a cop”:http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/08/22/AR2006082201118.html. It’s been a little weird the last few days seeing photos of armed men on campus and reading quotes from people working my own favorite hangouts near campus.
When I went to school at Virginia Tech — where a “manhunt recently cancelled the first day of classes”:http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/08/22/AR2006082201118.html?nav=hcmoduletmv — I knew a few people who didn’t quite fit in with the rest of society, including one brilliant computer programmer who spent most warm nights in the woods, and most cold nights on floors of friends. But he was a quiet, introspective person. For the most part, he didn’t want notice. I hope he and people like him are not too adversly affected by someone like Morva in their midst.
