It’s time we all reach out to guess ten.

Date March 2, 2007

Answers for last week are up here: Four were unguessed — at least two of which I thought folks would get! Maybe I am getting out of practice. Oh, well, I never wanted to be your weekend lover…

  1. Prince, “Purple Rain” [ Laundro" ] I only wanted to be some kind of friend.
  2. Spandau Ballet, “Gold” [ (: Tom :) ] You’ve got the power to know, you’re indestructible.
  3. Motley Crue, “Doctor Feelgood” [ (: Tom :) ] Jigsaw Jimmy he’s running a gang, but I hear he’s doing OK.
  4. Talking Heads, “Girlfriend is Better” [ Laundro ] She’s moving up going right through my heart. We might not ever get caught.
  5. Concrete Blonde, “End of the Line” Now’s the time to take a dive, take a magic carpet ride.
  6. Rage Against the Machine, “Roll Right” But now we’re alright — We’re all calm.
  7. John Mellencamp, “Authority Song” [ Fred ] But I think it’s a total disgrace.
  8. Sinead Lohan, “Whether or Not” All this fire in the air isn’t mine — not mine completely.
  9. Soft Boys, “Pulse of my Heart” You can set your watch by me, I’m a regular guy.
  10. Guns ‘N’ Roses, “Welcome to the Jungle” [ Jess ] You can taste the bright lights, but you won’t get them for free.

Dang, Laundro, you beat me to the Purple punch.

I’d hazard a guess that 5 is “Magic Carpet Ride” by Steppenwolf.

Very good, Laundro! I thought maybe #1 would be obvious enough you’d miss it. Guess not!

    M E-L, you’re a quarter-century off.

Is #10 “Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns n’ Roses?

  5. thudfactor said:

    Indeed it is!

  6. Fred said:

#7 is “Authority Song” by John Mellencamp (although I think he was still using the “Cougar” back then)

Dude! Your last guess ten (the knotty edition) is gone from your site. The link takes me nowhere; and I can’t find it anywhere on the site.

Perhaps it’s in draft mode, and needs to be published again?

    Oh yeah -

number 2 is “Gold” by Spandau Ballet.

number 3 is “Dr. Feelgood” by Motley Crue.

Wow! Somehow that post got set to private. I wonder how that happened. Thanks, (: Tom :). You are of course right about your two answers.

Fred, I think he was going by “Cougar” at the time, but not by choice — have you heart him tell that tale?

I’ve heard him tell a version of it, yeah. Basically, the middle name was the invention of some idiot record producer.
