Arlington to Blacksburg: a fair trade

Normally I do a little post-processing on pictures. Compensating for poor exposure choices, improving the color balance a bit, trying to get rid of color casts. Except for compression, this photo of the view from the field behind my apartment building is untouched.

“But Thud,” you say, “surely your commute is not as idyllic as that first scene.” You are right — but it’s not that different.

The field past the fence in that first photograph is cow pasture. Turn a bit and you can see more of the farm.

Cow Pasture

We are learning a lot about cows just by looking out our back windows. But the real window-watching champions here are our cats, who have been used to living seven floors up in a high-rise overlooking a parking lot. Cat TV is now much more interesting than it used to be.
