Friday 10: Ce que j’ai fait, ce soir-là

Say something once, why say it again?

Oh wow, it’s past noon and I usually have these posted by now. Better late than never!

Last week four people guessed seven songs, and we had a first correct answer from a newbie. A couple of people told me they recognized the lyric “my best friend said there's one out now about me and the girl next door” but couldn’t place it. That was “Rumors” by Timex Social Club. I guess they are a one hit wonder, but one-hit wonders deserve more respect than they get.

This set is maybe a bit more challenging than usual. Sometimes I think that and people prove me wrong, though, so good luck!

The rules:

  • No googling (or similar)
  • I need both the artist and the song name
  • Covers are acceptable, providing I can find them

Je me lance, vers la gloire:

  • All I want is to be left alone in my average home, but why do I always feel like I’m in The Twilight Zone?
Somebody’s Watching Me, Rockwell. Guessed by Mac Webb (and aslo Lazlo)
  • When you believe in things that you don’t understand, then you suffer
Superstition, Stevie Wonder. Guessed by Glen
  • You’ve got to pick up every stitch
Season of the Witch, Donovan. Guessed by Glen
  • Stretched out on a tarmac six miles north of South Platte
  • All I can manage to push from my lips is a string of absurdities
  • I know you told me I should stay away, I know you said he’s just a dog astray
  • He’s a god, he’s a man, he’s a ghost, he’s a guru
Red Right Hand, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds. Guessed by Glen
  • He came into her apartment — he left bloodstains on the carpet
  • The door was open and the wind appeared, the candles blew and then disappeared
  • He wears the same hat and sweater every single day, and even if it’s hot outside he wears it anyway!
Nightmare on My Street, DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince. Guessed by Glen

And then give Glen’s a shot!
