Here are a bunch of people who think arch-conservative Mike Huckabee is cool because he plays Guitar Hero.

Here at Thudfactor we discuss the impolite topics: politics, religion, and the occasional silly YouTube video. But we try to be nice about it.

gosh, you’re being awfully tough on GamePolitics and its readers. The Huckabee story is a cute one, nothing more.
Gamers are so accustomed to seeing political figures bash their hobby that it’s always noteworthy when one embraces it, even just a little.

That’s what I thought too, GP, but so many of the comments tend towards the “Oh, wow, Huckabee is my man!” message that I have to wonder how we can protect our rights if we don’t show a little more political acumen. The man plays Guitar Hero with a kid, but where does he really stand on issues of censorship? Is he really better than a Hillary Clinton? I think that’s an important question that GP could help answer.

It’s probably more accurate to say, “Guitar Hero is cool because even Mike Huckabee plays it!”
Most of the pro-Huckabee comments I saw there weren’t of the “Oh my god! I had never even *heard* of politics before today, but I am so voting for him!” variety. They seemed more to be from people who were already intending to vote for him, or who were posting as a joke. Few seem to be basing a decision on who to vote for on what video game the candidate may have played in passing.
Although I’ll agree, anyone who *did* that would deserve the candidate they got.
