Time to guess another ten lyrics!

Last week again we had three people guess six songs. The remaining lyrics were a couple of disco songs, a mid-70s hit that had a minor resurgence in the 90s thanks to a cover with more conventional instrumentation, and a Bob Dylan classic I mostly know through a Rage Against the Machine cover.

It’s such a shame when a good band like RATM gets all political. šŸ™ƒ

With the exception of Dylan, all the songs were from the 1970s. Kinda strange for songs that old to not be identified considering my regular crowd.

Big changes are coming to the pop charts thanks to changes in the music industry. Billboard is going to let songs age out, since some of the ones in the Hot 100 have been there for several years. Radio stations won’t stop playing them and neither will streaming algorithms. Will this get us more variety? At least in the Hot 100 it will. Spotify? Probably not.

The rules:

  • No searchin.’
  • I need both artist and title.
  • Cover versions are acceptable assuming I can find them.

And now for something completely different:

  1. Going down to Baltimore; going in an off-white Honda
  2. The road has got me hypnotized and I'm speeding into a new sunrise
Rader Love, Golden Earring. Guessed by Glen
  3. My best friend said there's one out now about me and the girl next door
  4. How was I to know she was with the Russians too?
Lawyers, Guns and Money, Warren Zevon. Guessed by Mac Webb
  5. I used to think the idea was obsolete until I heard the old man stamping his feet
Hell, Squirrel Nut Zippers. Guessed by Glen
  6. I’m a rebel just for kicks now; let me kick it like it’s 1986 now
Feel It Still, Portugal the Man. Guessed by Lazo Hollyfeld
  7. I hear the rhythms of the music, I buy the product and never use it
Mexican Radio, Wall of Voodoo. Guessed by Mac Webb
  8. Destroy the mind, destroy the body, but you cannot destroy the heart
  9. I’ll tip my hat to the new Constitution
Won’t Get Fooled Again, The Who. Guessed by Glen
  10. And don’t forget the joker
Ace of Spades, Motƶrhead. Guessed by Mike

And now go do Glen’s!
