Friday 10: What if the cure is worse than the disease?
Serve me up some pretty, pretty people
The answers for last week’s set are up. Five people guessed eight lyrics. On they high side, so congratulations! The two missing songs were the most political of the set, Depeche Mode’s Everything Counts and CAKE’s late 2010s single Sinking Ship.
That’s a live video of Depeche Mode above. I found a few live videos from when the song was first released, but they all look like they’re twelve. So I’m much more comfortable with these old dudes.
Speaking of “old dudes,” we have a few in this set.
The Rules:
- No googling
- Post both the name and the artist in the comments
- I’ll except covers, assuming I can find them
Serve me up somebody I can believe:
- I’m worse at what I do best, and for this gift I feel blessed
- If I ever meet you I’ll ctrl-alt-delete you
It's All About the Pentiums, “Weird Al” Yankovic. Guessed by Glen - I see you’ve got your fist out. Say your piece and get out.
- My only comfort is the night gone black
I'm Only Happy When It Rains, Garbage. Guessed by Glen - And I don’t know if I’ve ever loved any other half as much as I do in this light she’s under
- The albatross begins with its vengeance, a terrible curse. A thirst has begun
- By order of the prophet we ban that boogie sound
Rock the Casbah, the Clash. Guessed by Mac Webb - Some things aren’t born too strong, they have to learn how to fight
- She said I was the tiger she wanted to tame
Caribbean Queen, Billy Ocean. Guessed by Mac Webb - So with the slow, graceful flow of age I went forth with an age-old desire to please
Now give Glen’s a shot!
