Friday 10: Just stay home and play synthesizers
You know you‘re not in high finance considering second-hand underpants.
Last week three people guessed six lyrics, and I guess the rest stumped y’all. Poor Bobby Darin.
Here’s one act that no one guessed last week backed by an act that no one guessed several weeks ago:
This is not Bobby Darin
It’s been busy here and it’s not letting up, so let’s get right to it.
The rules:
- No searchin’
- I need both the song name and the artist
- If you give me a cover version and I can find it, that counts
I’m often surprised how many hits are covers. There’s at least one of those in this list, but maybe more.
Check your mind, how’d it get so bad?
- When the boogie started to explode, I heard somebody say…
- I wanna give, I’m completely positive
- I keep your picture upon the wall. It hides a messy stain that’s lying there.
- Once I ran to you, now I’ll run from you
Tainted Love, Gloria Jones, covered by Soft Cell. Guessed by Mac Webb - And you want her, and she wants you. We want everyone.
No One Is To Blame, Howard Jones. Guessed by Mac Webb - She got tricks in the stash, stacking up the cash
No Diggity, Blackstreet. Guessed by Sidney - And which do you choose, a hard or soft option?
West End Girls, Pet Shop Boys. Guessed by Lazlo Hollyfeld - The National Guard stands around his door
- Sleeping on a pillow of solid rock, bathing in the city aqueduct
The Ghost of Tom Joad, Bruce Springsteen. Guessed by Sidney - I’ll stick with the union until every battle's won
Which Side Are You On? Pete Seeger. Guessed by Sidney
